Arsenal vs Fulham
Premier League 2018/19
Venue: Emirates Stadium
Date: Wednesday, 2 January, 2019
Kick-off time: 3pm GMT
Arsenal host Fulham on Wednesday look to improve on a run of form that has seen them win just one of their last five.
The fifth place Gunners now sit just three points ahead of a resurgent Manchester United.
Fulham picked up just their second home win of the season against Huddersfield on Saturday, a result which moved them to within a point of getting out of the relegation zone.
Team news and predicted line-ups
Arsenal could be without Mesut Ozil again after the German missed the heavy defeat to Liverpool with a knee injury.
Hector Bellerin (calf), Konstantinos Mavropanos (groin), Rob Holding (knee), Henrikh Mkhitaryan (broken metatarsal) and Danny Welbeck (ankle) are also out.
Alfie Mawson is almost certain to miss out after suffering what his manager described as a “serious” knee injury against Huddersfield. Calum Chambers is also unavailable as he is not eligible to play against his parent club.
Aboubakar Kamara is available but after Claudio Ranieri’s scathing criticism of the forward after Saturday’s penalty row, we have a sneaky feeling he won’t feature.
Score prediction: Arsenal 2-0 Fulham
With their squad being tested to its limits, this is in many ways an ideal fixture for the Gunners – at home to a relegation candidate.
Ranieri has instilled some fresh resolve into the Cottagers but Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette can provide more than enough firepower to down a Fulham side still suspect at the back.
