Arsenal vs Chelsea teams: Confirmed XIs as Mesut Ozil starts at the Emirates

Mikel Arteta has continued to show faith with Mesut Ozil having named the club's highest paid player in the Arsenal starting XI for his first home game in charge against Chelsea.

The Spaniard, who took over from Unai Emery earlier this month and oversaw his first game in the dugout against Bournemouth on Boxing Day has also defended the midfielder in his maiden programme notes ahead of the London derby.

"I have already been asked a lot of questions from the media about Mesut Ozil," Arteta wrote.

"I told the media when I arrived, everybody at the club has a clean slate with me. I can say since the day that I arrived back at London Colney Mesut's attitude and professionalism has been incredible and his performance against Bournemouth was another really big positive from the match."

Granit Xhaka, who is reportedly closing in on a move away from north London next month, is not involved in the squad.

For Chelsea, Lampard has made two changes from the Boxing Day defeat to Southampton as Mason Mount and Matteo Kovacic come in for Callum Hudson-Odoi and Jorginho.
