Arsenal vs Bournemouth result: David Luiz's first goal for the Gunners secures win to move them up to third

Arsenal moved into the top four of the Premier League table with a nervy home win over Bournemouth.

David Luiz's first goal for the club secured a 1-0 victory, with the Brazilian guiding a header into the corner early on.

Bournemouth fought back into the game in the second half but could not level things up, with Callum Wilson missing a good chance, and Arsenal clung on for victory, Relive how all the action unfolded below:

Afternoon all, and welcome to a bumper day of Premier League action.

Four of the Premier League's big six are in action on a busy afternoon of top flight football, including Arsenal, who welcome Bournemouth to the Emirates Stadium.

Kick-off is about an hour away...

Team News - Bournemouth

Eddie Howe names an unchanged Bournemouth side, though the visitors are boosted by the return of Ryan Fraser to the bench, the Scotsman having overcome a bout with illness.
Team News - Arsenal

Bukayo Saka and Callum Chambers retain their places in the Arsenal side, with Dani Ceballos adding creativity in midfield. Kieran Tierney could make his first Premier League appearance from the bench.
No Mesut Ozil in the Arsenal squad today again.

His manager revealed what he had to do to win back his place earlier in the week...

Tottenham's slip up at Brighton yesterday means Arsenal will finish the weekend ahead of their rivals however this game finishes today, and Unai Emery's side can move into third with a win this afternoon.

They haven't started the season well at all, and it is a mark of how tight this Premier League season is shaping to be that three clubs who have been in such strife at various points so far in Arsenal, Chelsea and Spurs are all so close together and close to the Champions League places at this early juncture.
It is interesting to see Unai Emery bring Dani Ceballos back. There was a thought that Joe Willock might play after a superb Europa League performance, but Ceballos has got the nod in a bid to add some degree of quality to a midfield that lacked it badly against Manchester United on Monday night.

Granit Xhaka and Matteo Guendouzi are the Spaniard's midfield partners, with Lucas Torreira, who has gone off the boil, rather, after such a promising start to his Arsenal career this time last year, dropping out.

Bournemouth's last outing was an entertaining 2-2 draw with West Ham at the Vitality Stadium. I really like this team, and they have set up in an attacking 4-4-2 again, with Joshua King off the left and Dominic Solanke and Callum Wilson's burgeoning partnership given another go up top.

They can hurt this Arsenal defence, which is vulnerable. You just wonder if they will be able to stop this Arsenal side - Jefferson Lerma and Philip Billing will have to do plenty of work in midfield, and West Ham showed you can get at the two Bournemouth full-backs.
Bournemouth can also go into the top four with victory today, of course, with their goal difference already superior to that of Crystal Palace. Incentive.

A very valid point from our Chief Football Writer. Mesut Ozil's exclusion still comes as something of a surprise, but the German hasn't exactly improved this Arsenal side in his more recent outings, and if Dani Ceballos can bed in he becomes even more obsolete. On his way out in January?
15 minutes until kick-off at the Emirates Stadium...

The two sets of players assemble themselves in the tunnel. A top four place on the line. I reckon this could be a fun one - neither side is particularly secure at the back, and each has attacking potency to take advantage of the vulnerabilities.
KICK OFF
And we are underway at the Emirates
1 minute

Bournemouth begin well, pressing high in their 4-4-2. It appears to be a 4-3-3 for Arsenal, with Matteo Guendouzi right of centre and Dani Ceballos skewed to the opposite side, Granit Xhaka sitting between them in midfield.
2 minutes

Philip Billing has started busily, and moves well to cover a pass down the touchline, stretching to divert the ball out of play as Arsenal try to build an attack.
3 minutes

Brilliant football from Arsenal. Nicolas Pepe and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang combine down the inside right channel, with Pepe slipping a lovely pass beyond the defence for Aubameyang, who back heels for Matteo Guendouzi.

Guendouzi gets the ball stuck beneath his feet, rather, failing to release a shot, and the final touch is from his feet as Bournemouth shuffle him and the ball out of play. Goal kick.
5 minutes

Bukayo Saka wins a corner with a nice run down the left, and when Arsenal rebuild when their short corner routine goes awry Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang earns one down the right.

Dani Ceballos crosses but fails to beat the first man. Poor corner kick.
6 minutes

Close! Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang peels to the left as Bukayo Saka takes up a central position and feeds his striker in space.

Aubameyang is invited inside onto his right boot and releases a drive from 25 yards or so, and it whistles past the right upright with Aaron Ramsdale well beaten.
8 minutes

Arsenal are in control now. They've settled into the flow of the game quickly and are beginning to build nicely in possession, with Callum Chambers offering a good option down the right.

He earns a third corner in relatively quick succession. Nicolas Pepe will curl this one in...

What time is kick-off?

The game kicks off at 2pm on Sunday 6 October.
