2019 International Champions Cup
Venue: Dignity Health Sports Park, Carson, California, USA
Date: Wednesday July 17, 2019
Kick-off time: 8pm PT, 4am BST

Arsenal contest a high-profile pre-season friendly fixture against Bayern Munich tonight as they continue preparations for the new campaign in the United States.

A youthful Gunners side kicked off their US tour on Tuesday with a comfortable 3-0 victory over Major League Soccer outfit the Colorado Rapids - a match that saw new signing Gabriel Martinelli notch his first goal for the club.

Now attentions turn to the International Champions Cup opener at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California - home of the Los Angeles Galaxy and Los Angeles Chargers NFL franchise.

Reigning Bundesliga champions Bayern were beaten on penalties by the same opposition in this competition two summers ago.

Here's what you need to know...

Arsenal team news and tour squad

Arsenal XI: Leno, Maitland-Niles, Mustafi, Sokratis, Monreal, Xhaka, Willock, Mkhitaryan, Ozil, Aubameyang, Lacazette

Why has Arsenal captain Laurent Koscielny refused to travel on pre-season tour?

Arsenal are without club captain Laurent Koscielny, who refused to travel to the US. Alex Iwobi and Mohamed Elneny are also absent after their exertions at the Africa Cup of Nations, while Krystian Bielik, Matteo Guendouzi, and Lucas Torreira are also unavailable.

Rob Holding, Hector Bellerin and Konstantinos Mavropanos are all still recovering from injury, meanwhile.

For Bayern, new signing Lucas Hernandez has not made the trip as a precautionary measure as he continues to step up his rehabilitation after knee surgery.

However, Alphonso Davies is with Niko Kovac's squad after his Gold Cup outing with Canada.

New signings Benjamin Pavard and Jann-Fiete Arp are also in contention.

Arsenal's US tour squad: Leno, Martinez, Macey, Bellerin, Jenkinson, Chambers, Sokratis, Mustafi, Holding, Mavropanos, Medley, Monreal, Kolasinac, Thompson, Maitland-Niles, Willock, Xhaka, Burton, Olayinka, Mkhitaryan, Ozil, Nelson, Smith Rowe, Martinelli, Saka, Aubameyang, Lacazette, Nketiah, John-Jules

Prediction: Arsenal 2-1 Bayern Munich

A stronger Arsenal XI could fancy their chances against a Bayern side with plenty of rebuilding to do following the exits of James Rodriguez, Arjen Robben, Franck Ribery, Rafinha and Mats Hummels.
