Arsenal: Viktor Gyokeres reveals first piece of advice Mikel Arteta has given him

New Arsenal striker Viktor Gyokeres has revealed the first advice Mikel Arteta has given him since joining.

Gyokeres was unveiled by the Gunners last week after a weeks-long transfer saga was finally concluded with a £64million exit from Sporting.

It makes a return to English football for Gyokeres after two years in Portugal, having spent time with the likes of Brighton and Coventry, and a loan spell with Swansea City. But he never managed to play in the Premier League.

"Obviously, it’s the best league in the world, so of course that was always a goal to play in the Premier League,” he told reporters. “So when I felt it was the right time, I didn’t hesitate to come back."

He continued: "[Previous experience] makes it easier. I’m used to the weather and everything around, so some aspects I think it helps.

“But of course, there are a lot of new things as well: a new group, a new idea of playing. I think I need to adapt to that as well.”

Gyokeres returns to England having scored a remarkable 97 goals in 104 appearances for Sporting, but the Sweden international is keen to not put pressure on himself as the Gunners look to adapt their style to their new man.

Asked if Arteta has given him any early advice, Gyokeres said: "He just said to try to use my qualities as much as I can.

"But I haven’t been here too long. I’ve only done one training session. I think I have to do a few more to come into it even more. So far, it’s been feeling great. I’m looking forward to doing even more."
