Fasten your seat belts as today’s 3pm kick-offs are about to get under way.
Jurgen Klopp speaks ...
On the subject of Sadio Mane’s dismissal, he has this to say: “I don’t think it’s a red card. He didn’t see him. It was unlucky, it was an accident.”
It almost certainly was an accident but that is irrelevant, would be my two cents on the matter. Mane caught Ederson in the face and left stud mark’s on the City goalkeeper’s jaw. It that isn’t “a challenge that endangers the safety of an opponent”, I’m not sure what is.
Match report: Manchester City 5-0 Liverpool
Our chief football correspondent Daniel Taylor was at the Etihad and here is his on-the-whistle report.
Full time: Manchester City 5-0 Liverpool
It’s all over at the Etihad, where 10-man Liverpool have been made to look very, very ordinary indeed by Manchester City. Debate continues to rage over Sadio Mane’s red card on social media - those, including Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville, who think it was anything other than a dismissal are wrong. Whether Mane meant to harm Ederson or not is irrelevant, it was serious foul play. “A tackle or challenge that endangers the safety of an opponent” is a red card.
Goal: Manchester City 5-0 Liverpool
Ederson update: The Manchester City goalkeeper is back at the Etihad and watching the final few minutes of his team’s demolition job against Liverpool from the stand, sporting a large rectangular bandage on the left side of his face. He has returned in time to see Leroy Sane score his second of the afternoon to make it Manchester City 5-0 Liverpool.

Meanwhile at the Etihad ...
Leroy Sane has made it Manchester 4-0 Liverpool and there are eight minutes remaining. After the collision with Sadio Mane, which resulted in a red card for the Liverpool forward, Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson is being assessed for a facial fracture.
City’s number one, who was replaced by Claudio Bravo, was then taken to the nearby Manchester Institute of Health and Performance to be assessed.
Press Association Sport understands Ederson, who cost £35m this summer, did not suffer concussion but the club’s medical team are checking for fractures.
Mane, meanwhile, can expect to miss Liverpool’s next three domestic games - against Burnley and Leicester in the Premier League as well as a clash against the Foxes in the Carabao Cup.
