Arsenal urged to make Carlo Ancelotti decision after Napoli sacking

Former Arsenal striker Kevin Campbell has issued his verdict on whether the Gunners should pursue former Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti.

Ancelotti was mostly recently sacked by Napoli on Tuesday despite the Italians reaching the knockout stages of the Champions League.

Napoli finished second last season in the Serie A but a poor start to the league campaign made Ancelotti's position untenable despite the progression in the Champions League.

Ancelotti has now been linked with a host of clubs following his dismissal and considering his success at Chelsea when he won the Premier League back in 2010, Arsenal and Everton have naturally been associated with the Italian.

Ljungberg on fixing Arsenal's defence

Asked if Everton and Arsenal should be fighting for Ancellotti's signature, Campbell, who was speaking on behalf GentingBet, told football.london: "I think they should be. I don't know many managers who win 4-0 to qualify for the Champions League knockout stages and then gets the sack.

"His resume speaks for itself and he has managed in England before and has been successful. He knows the Premier League, the clubs and the power structure.

"Napoli have been one of the only teams to beat Liverpool this season. He is very experienced and knowledgeable and obviously was an ex-player as well. He has managed some of the top teams in the world.

"If they are not interested in him, I've got a question and that's why are they not interested in him? A man like that doesn't come around very often."
