Arsenal urged to complete £45m signing to replace Granit Xhaka in midfield

Former Arsenal striker Kevin Campbell has told his old club to raid Brighton for another one of their stars after securing the signing of Ben White for a fee believed to be in the region of £50million.

Talks between the two clubs had lasted several weeks, with the Gunners having previously seen a £40million bid rebuffed by the Seagulls.

However, chief executive Edu finally landed his man as White was announced as the club's third signing of the summer, joining Portuguese fullback Nuno Tavares and Belgian midfielder Albert Sambi Lokonga at the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal have also been linked with another Brighton star in the form of Yves Bissouma, a tough-tackling midfielder who has been mooted as the perfect midfielder to help manager Mikel Arteta bring his side back into the top six next season.

football.london reported back in January that the Gunners hold an interest in the Mali international and a close friend of Bissouma's told football.london that he "loves the Premier League" and favours a move to the north London club over any other Premier League side if they came in for him.

And Campbell has joined the discussion, urging his former side to make a move for the 24-year-old, who he regards as the 'ideal' midfield partner for Ghanian maestro Thomas Partey.

"Bissouma, for me, he is the ideal partner in there for Thomas Partey," Campbell told Highbury Squad.

“He is combative, he is a lot better on the ball than people give him credit for, the kid can play.

“He is young, he knows the Premier League, he is tough, he tracks back, he puts the tackles in, he is box-to-box. If you need him to, he can hold.

“That’s my guy.”

Like White, Bissouma would likely command a hefty transfer fee this summer, with The Athletic previously reporting that Brighton want in excess of £40million for their midfield star.
