Arsenal unveil retro third shirt with Premier League opener just days away

Arsenal's partnership with Adidas has provided yet another eye-catching number as the Gunners unveil their third shirt for the upcoming Premier League season.

The blue number, set to be worn for the first time for Friday night's opening game of the Premier League campaign away to newly-promoted Brentford, is a combination of a darker “Mystery Blue”, Scarlett and Signal Cyah, or pale blue and will be accompanied with dark blue shorts and socks.

Commenting on the new shirt, Inigo Turner, design director at adidas, explained: “Through the design lens of the 90’s London Zeitgeist, we reimagine this iconic moment in time with true club DNA & adidas design language from the era.

"The 2021/2022 Arsenal 3rd kit is for a whole new generation of Gunners to enjoy, and we hope the fans will really like it.”

Arsenal fans can expect to see the likes of favourites such as Bukayo Saka, Emile Smith Rowe and Kieran Tierney don the striking shirt throughout the season as the Gunners look to bounce back from an underwhelming season last term.

Arsenal finished eighth for the second successive season last time around and as a result will play this campaign without entertaining any form of European football, the first time that has happened in 25 years.

In line with the 2021/22 home and away kits, the Arsenal for Everyone logo features on the inside collar of the shirt.

This initiative was launched in 2008 as a celebration of the diversity of the Arsenal family, the Arsenal for Everyone initiative ensures that everyone can feel an equal sense of pride and belonging to the club.

For fans desperate to get their hands on the new strip, the full kit is available to buy today exclusively at adidas.com, Arsenal Direct, the Armoury and in-store with adidas.

Wider release with select retailers will be available from 17 August 2021.
