Arsenal travelling squad revealed for Eintracht Frankfurt with two surprise omissions

Arsenal have confirmed the squad that has travelled to Germany to take on Eintracht Frankfurt in the Europa League.

The Gunners travel to take on the Bundesliga side in the opening game of the competition hoping to go one better than last season, where they lost to Chelsea in the final.

Arsenal have been drawn in group F alongside tomorrow's opponents Frankfurt, Standard Liege and Vitoria.

The club have confirmed the squad that had travelled to Germany on their official Twitter account on Wednesday afternoon, with 19 players included on the list, but there was two significant omissions as the Gunners' prepare for Thursday's game.

Both midfielder Mesut Ozil and defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos have not been included.

Ozil played his first game of the season against Watford after illness had kept him out of the opening games, but the German international will now be unable to make his first appearance in his home nation since retiring from international football.

Sokratis however, has played every game so far this season.

Both players were included in Wednesday's  training session ahead of the game.

Unai Emery is expected to give more information on the pair's omission when he talks to the media on Wednesday evening.

Arsenal take on Eintracht Frankfurt at the Commerzbank Arena on Thursday with kick off at 5.55pm (GMT).
