Arsenal transfer Unai Emery completed that Arsene Wenger refused to sanction

Arsene Wenger turned down the chance to sign Barcelona's Denis Suarez on loan just one year before Unai Emery sanctioned a deal for the Spaniard.

Arsenal were among a number of Premier League clubs, including Southampton and Brighton, who were offered the midfielder on a temporary basis.

Wenger considered the former Man City star alongside his team of advisors while he was still in charge in north London, but opted against making the transfer happen.

According to football.london, the legendary Arsenal boss voiced concern over the deal, doubting the impact the midfielder would have in the Premier League.

Barcelona were keen for a permanent purchase clause worth £18million to be included in the deal, which would have been triggered by Arsenal at the end of the season.
