Arsenal transfer target Franck Kessie set for AC Milan crisis talks this week

Arsenal target Franck Kessie is set for showdown talks with AC Milan bosses this week, according to reports in Italy.

Kessie was involved in a heated argument with teammate Lucas Biglia after he was substituted during the second half of his side's Milan derby defeat on March 17.

The incident was caught on television cameras at San Siro and the Ivorian midfielder was later condemned for the role he played in it by Milan boss Gennaro Gattuso.

Both players were subsequently fined by the club, but reports last week suggested that Kessie was slapped with a bigger financial penalty than Biglia and told he had work to do to regain Gattuso's trust.

Kessie has been with the Ivory Coast during the international break as The Elephants rounded off their 2019 African Cup of Nations qualifying campaign with a 3-0 win over Rwanda.

Ibrahim Kamara's side are in friendly action against Liberia on Tuesday night, after which Kessie is due to return to Italy.

He is scheduled to return to Milan's training base on Thursday, and according to Italian website Calciomercato.com the midfield star will speak to Gattuso then.

The report states that Kessie could well be benched for Milan's trip to Sampdoria on Saturday.

Arsenal will be monitoring those talks, although the Gunners face competition from London rivals Tottenham and West Ham for the Ivorian's signature.

Kessie is coming to the end of a two-year loan deal at San Siro from Atalanta, although Milan have an obligation to make the deal permanent in the summer.

It had been a productive spell for the 22-year-old prior to the incident with Biglia. Kessie has made 26 Serie A appearances this season, scoring four goals and laying on one assist.

According to reports last week, it would cost around €40million to bring the midfielder to the Premier League.
