Arsenal transfer target Dominik Szoboszlai makes midfielder comparison that fans will love

Dominik Szoboszlai, who is emerging as a summer transfer target for Arsenal, has compared himself to Germany and Real Madrid midfield star Toni Kroos.

The 19-year-old Hungarian international has been making quite a name for himself at Austrian outfit Red Bull Salzburg this season and interest in his services is gathering pace ahead of the next transfer window.

Szoboszlai, who is a central midfielder, has proven himself as a key fixture in Salzburg's side this season, despite his tender age, racking up 29 appearances in all competitions.

Szoboszlai is not the first Salzburg player to have attracted interest from big-name European clubs in the past few months, with the club having been forced into letting go of Takumi Minamino and Erling Haland to Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund, respectively.

But with the midfielder attracting high levels of interest from Arsenal, as reported by football.london back in February, as well as Leicester City and Chelsea, Salzburg could be forced into letting go of another one of their promising, young talents.

And with speculation about Szoboszali's future gathering pace, the Hungary international has named two midfielders - both of whom are World Cup winners - that he compares his style of play to.

"Cristiano Ronaldo was my role model while I was young," he said. "I have been watching him becoming the best player in the world. I am also still watching him and his work today.

"But if I had to name a player who has a similar way to play football like me, I would name [Paul] Pogba or Kroos."

The centre of midfield is an area that Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta has plans to bolster this summer, with the likes of Atletico Madrid star Thomas Partey and Feyenoord youngster Orkan Kokcu also understood to be amongst his targets.
