Arsenal transfer target Dan-Axel Zagadou tells Borussia Dortmund he wants to leave

Arsenal target Dan-Axel Zagadou has told Borussia Dortmund he wants to leave the German giants - paving the way for the Gunners to make their move.

Unai Emery is desperate for defence reinforcements this summer as he bids to bolster the backline that leaked 51 goals in the Premier League last term.

That led to Arsenal missing out on the top four and a crack at next season's Champions League, while they were also beaten in the Europa League final by Chelsea .

And Zagadou has emerged as a possible solution for the Gunners after impressing as France skipper at the recent Under-20s World Cup.

According to German outlet Bild, the stopper wants out of the Westfalenstadion after seeing his first-team prospects damaged by the return of Mats Hummels.

Zagadou, 20, featured 17 times in the Bundesliga last term but would likely play second fiddle behind Hummels and Manuel Akanji if he stays for another season.

He arrived at Dortmund in 2017 on a free transfer from PSG, and the German side will now reportedly look for around £27million in order to offload him.

Zagadou still has three years remaining on his Dortmund contract which could prove a stumbling block for Arsenal.

The Gunners only have around £45million to spend - but that could be bolstered by any potential sales.
