Arsenal transfer talks confirmed and what happened in Martin Odegaard's first training session

Here's all the news from around the Emirates Stadium over the past 24 hours.

Odegaard's first Arsenal training session

Martin Odegaard trained with his new Arsenal team-mates for the very first time on Wednesday ahead of potentially making his debut against Manchester United.

The highly-rated Norwegian international has joined the Gunners on loan for the remainder of the season from La Liga giants Real Madrid.

Odegaard became Arsenal's third signing of the January window, following on from the arrivals of Omar Rekik from Hertha Berlin and Brighton & Hove Albion goalkeeper Mat Ryan, who also joined on loan.

Although Odegaard's arrival was only announced on Wednesday morning, the attacking midfielder was thrown straight into a training session at London Colney.

As he walked out onto the pitch, his first touch was tested by team-mate Kieran Tierney.

In a clip shared on Arsenal's reddit page, Tierney was spotted laughing and joking with Odegaard as they walked out onto the playing surface, as the former rolled the ball back into the new signing's path to test his first touch.

Torreira talks confirmed

Mikel Arteta faced the media ahead of the Man United game and one of the main talking points from his press conference was about Lucas Torreira's future.

The midfielder is currently on loan at Atletico Madrid, but Sky Sports claim Ligue 1 side AS Monaco are in talks with Arsenal about taking over that agreement.

Whilst Arteta didn't comment on those links to Monaco, he did confirm the club have been in contact with the Uruguay midfielder.

"We have been talking to Lucas, Edu has been very close to the situation. He hasn’t been playing as many minutes as he would like, as we would like, but to be fair the team is doing so well in Spain and it is understandable they don’t change the team so much.

"We just want to be right behind Lucas, protect him, help him make the right decisions for the future, so let’s see what happens. But we are monitoring the situation very closely.

Partey return date revealed

Arteta also delivered an update on Thomas Partey who has emerged as an injury doubt for the Man United game after limping off during the win over Southampton.

"I don’t know let’s see how they come today. They have some discomfort in different parts Thomas and Emile.

"We will have to see how they evolve.

"We still have some days until the game, but not long so let’s see how they recover."

With that said, Goal are reporting some really encouraging news as their Arsenal correspondent, Charles Watts, has revealed there is hope amongst the midfielder's camp that he will be fine to face United.

He said: "I have spoken to people close to Thomas Partey and they were hopeful that he would be alright for the weekend, and that it was nothing too serious, so fingers crossed on that one."
