Arsenal transfer rumours: William Saliba exit, Sokratis Papastathopoulos failed deadline day move,

Arsenal have just over a week left to finalise transfers with fellow Premier League clubs.

The domestic deadline is at 5pm on Friday, October 16 so the club's business may not be done just yet.

Thomas Partey was the big arrival on deadline day but Mikel Arteta will want to consider options as he gears his squad up for the next few months.

There could be some ins and outs at Arsenal in the coming days and here are the latest rumours.

Saliba exit?

Defender William Saliba has been linked with a move to a Championship club on loan after a failed return to France.

The 19-year-old had been due to rejoin St Etienne on loan but the move collapsed on deadline day.

The French club blamed 'administrative problems' at the Arsenal end for the failed move.

He is now being linked with a transfer to the Championship as he aims to get more minutes and experience of English football under his belt.

The 19-year-old is yet to play for Arsenal.

Sokratis nearly joined PSG

Arsenal defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos nearly joined Paris Saint-German late on deadline day.

The centre-back, who has fallen down the pecking order at the Emirates Stadium, is out of contract in north London next summer.

The lowdown and verdict on Arsenal's transfer window

Telefoot journalist Saber Desfarges says PSG boss Thomas Tuchel had looked to bring the experienced defender in having worked with him previously at Borussia Dortmund.

A free transfer was mooted but never came off with Arsenal rejecting the offer.

Advice for Partey

Former Ghana boss Avram Grant says Arsenal fans should be patient with their new signing Thomas Partey.

The midfielder joined the Gunners on deadline day earlier this week.

Grant managed Partey on the international scene and says the player is a great signing for the Gunners but he will need some time to adjust to his new surroundings.

He told The Sun : “I’d ask the Arsenal fans to give him a few weeks just to get used to English football, because it is still played differently in the Premier League to anywhere else, even if there are more foreign players now.

"But he will prove a good signing, perfect for what Mikel Arteta is trying to do.

“When you need him to hold the ball up, he can do that and he is a great fit for what Arteta is trying to make his team."
