Arsenal transfer rumours: Two key Dominik Szoboszlai developments, Shkodran Mustafi set to leave

As the international break nears its conclusion, there is now just over a month of Premier League action left until the January transfer window opens.

Arsenal have had a mixed start to the season. After starting with a few exceptional games, Mikel Arteta's team have struggled in recent weeks.

Their patchy form means the Gunners could be tempted to dive into the transfer market when 2021 comes around, as Arteta tries to get his club back into the Champions League.

There is one name in particular that continues to be linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium – and he is involved in today's transfer rumours.

Salzburg boss says Szoboszlai will leave

Dominik Szoboszlai will leave Red Bull Salzburg in January, according to the Austrian club's manager Jesse Marsch.

The Gunners have been heavily linked with a move for Szoboszlai over the last few weeks, with the Hungary international in top form for his club and country.

Speaking on the Futbol Podcast, via Football 365, Marsch said: “The reality is that a guy like Dominik Szoboszlai is likely to have many suitors this winter.

“He’s an incredible talent, and I say this: When you coach young players, you have to love them and love the fact that they’re going to move on and love that they’re going to have big opportunities to prove themselves and show how good they are.”

Following on from Marsch's quotes, Szoboszlai's agent Esterhazy Matyas has admitted his client is on the verge of leaving Salzburg.

RB Leipzig, who are the Austrian side's sister club, are also very interested in the move for the 20-year-old.

Matyas, when speaking to DIGI Sport's Sport 24 said, as quoted by Metro: "‘Whether it’s in January or next summer, the most important thing is that he goes to a club where he will have a good chance of playing regularly and continuing the learning curve he started in Salzburg – that’s the most important thing for us.

"Obviously, it’s no secret that Dominik is closer now to leaving the Austrian league."

Mustafi unlikely to stay at Gunners

Arsenal defender Shkodran Mustafi is unlikely to sign a new contract at the Emirates Stadium, according to Sky Deutschland, via Inside Futbol.

Over recent days, it has been reported by media outlets in Spain that Mustafi is a target for La Liga giants Barcelona, with the German defender out of contract in the summer.

Now, the report from Germany claims that the Arsenal centre-back is unlikely to remain in north London beyond the end of the 2020/21 season.

Mustafi has played just twice under Arteta so far during the Premier League campaign and may look for first-team football elsewhere.
