Arsenal transfer rumours: Seven players could be sold to fund Thomas Partey move, Gabriel latest

The rumours continue as Mikel Arteta looks to bolster his Arsenal squad in the summer transfer window.

With less than a month to go until the start of the new season, the Gunners boss will be looking to build on his side’s positive end to the previous campaign.

New faces are needed to freshen things up as the Arsenal boss looks to get them back challenging for a top four place next season.

Here are the latest transfer rumours and gossip coming from the Emirates Stadium.

Gabriel Magalhães: In profile

Gunners face Gabriel wait

Arsenal may be forced to wait for Gabriel Magalhaes, with reports suggesting Napoli have been set a deadline to meet his valuation.

The Brazilian is thought to be close to a move to north London, having helped Lille to a fourth-place finish in Ligue 1 last season.

The Gunners could hit a stumbling block though, with Gazetta dello Sport reporting that Gabriel entered into a ‘moral agreement’ with Napoli earlier in the summer.

The Italian side have now been set a two-week deadline to meet his valuation of £23million, with Arsenal reportedly willing to pay £27million.

Fire sale to fund Partey swoop

Arsenal could plan a fire sale of players in order to raise funds for the transfer of Thomas Partey, according to reports.

The Atletico Madrid midfielder has been heavily linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium, with the Ghanian thought to be one of Mikel Arteta’s top priorities.

A deal though could hinge on whether the Gunners can meet Atletico asking price, and Arteta may look to offload some players in order to fund the move.

Sky Sports report Arsenal are looking at the potential sales of Matteo Guendouzi, Alexandre Lacazette, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Mohamed Elneny, Lucas Torreira, Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Sead Kolasinac as ways of generating some funds.

Coutinho given clean slate

Philippe Coutinho could be given a clean slate in which to prove himself back at Barcelona following the sacking of Quique Setien.

The Brazilian has been linked with a move to north London, having fallen out of favour at the Camp Nou, while a permanent transfer to Bayern Munich has failed to materialise.

A return to the Premier League has been mooted, but Coutinho’s time at Barca may not be over just yet.

Mundo (via Sport Witness) have claimed the Gunners may not be able to afford Coutinho’s salary and Barca’s demands, and with Ronald Koeman set to arrive as manager, the Brazilian may get another chance in Spain.
