Arsenal transfer rumours: Puig interest, Arteta's January policy, Bellerin's replacement named

Arsenal secured their first Premier League victory in almost two months on Boxing Day, as they beat Chelsea at the Emirates Stadium.

Alexandre Lacazette, Granit Xhaka and Bukayo Saka all scored for the Gunners in a 3-1 win.

However, despite the three points, it doesn't gloss over Mikel Arteta's side's poor start to the season and with the January transfer window now fast approaching, attention could turn there.

With that in mind, here is the latest round-up of all the latest transfer stories and rumours which concern Arsenal.

Gunners interested in Puig

Arsenal are considering making a move for Barcelona midfielder Riqui Puig in the January transfer window, according to The Athletic.

Mikel Arteta hopes Chelsea win will be a turning point for Arsenal

Puig has been watched on several occasions by Gunners scouts, and will be allowed to leave Ronald Koeman's side when the window opens.

Arteta has been in the market for a creative midfielder, with Houssem Aouar, Dominik Szoboszlai and Julian Brandt all being linked with a switch to the Emirates.

However, the 21-year-old Puig is a new target, with the midfielder out-of-favour under Koeman in Spain.

Arteta's strict policy

Arsenal boss Arteta has been told he will need to sell players if he wishes to make any additions in the January transfer window, despite the side's poor start to the season.

According to The Athletic, the size of the Gunners' squad is too big at the moment and the club's owner Stan Kroenke has told the manager he needs to trim it before thinking about adding to its depth.

Mesut Ozil has been heavily linked with a move away from north London after the German was omitted from both of Arteta's squads this season. However, Ozil looks set to move on a free transfer when the season ends, with his contract at the Emirates coming to an end.

Lamptey interest

Arsenal are eyeing up a move for Brighton & Hove Albion right-back Tariq Lamptey, with Hector Bellerin being linked with a move away from the Emirates.

That's according to the Mirror, who are reporting that Arteta is considering a move for Lamptey as a potential Bellerin replacement, with the Spanish defender a target for Barcelona, reports claim.

The 21-year-old Brighton full-back has been in fine form this season after signing from Chelsea earlier this year. The Gunners are keeping 'close tabs' on Lamptey, but he is being watched by Manchester City and Bayern Munich scouts, the report states.
