Arsenal transfer rumours: Omar Rekik medical, Gunners open Isco talks, Emi Buendia price tag

Arsenal made it back-to-back Premier League victories on Tuesday evening as Alexandre Lacazette's strike was enough for the visitors at the Amex Stadium.

The Gunners beat Chelsea on Boxing Day and less than 72 hours later, they managed to edge Brighton & Hove Albion down on the south coast in two much-needed wins for Mikel Arteta.

However, despite the strong recent form, Arteta will be under no illusions when the January transfer window opens.

His side have been linked with a host of new players as they look to bolster their squad for the rest of the 2020/21 season.

With that in mind, here is the latest round-up of Arsenal-related transfer stories and rumours.

Rekik set for medical

Hertha Berlin defender Omar Rekik has been given permission by his club to undergo a medical at Arsenal, according to BILD.

The report states that Per Mertesacker was determined to sign Rekik in the summer window, but could not quite complete a deal in time.

Now, the 19-year-old is reportedly set to complete a medical at the Emirates Stadium ahead of a proposed £600,000 move in January.

The Gunners are set to put Rekik straight into their under-23 side, but he will be handed an opportunity to train with the first-team squad as well.

Isco talks underway

Arsenal are now in talks to sign Real Madrid playmaker Isco in January, according to a report from the Telegraph.

Negotiations are at an early stage, the report claims, but the 28-year-old has been identified as the perfect creative player that Arteta currently lacks with the Gunners.

Isco is keen on moving on from Madrid after a frustrating season due to limited first-team chances under Zinedine Zidane.

However, the north London club are not the only side interested in the Spain international - with Sevilla already trying to complete a deal.

Sutton thinks Arsenal will have to spend big on Buendia

Chris Sutton believes Arsenal will have to spend much more than the reported £15million price tag for Norwich City star Emi Buendia.

Buendia has been linked with a move to numerous Premier League clubs - including the Gunners - with the Canaries reportedly demanding £15m for his services.

However, Sutton has told BBC Radio 5 Live that he will be worth much more than that.

“£15million, are you joking? He’s worth double that, come on. That’s an insult. Why would you sell Buendia for £15m in January when he is so important in getting Norwich promotion? That’s not worth £15m," the ex-Norwich striker said.
