Arsenal transfer rumours: Neto request rejected, Morgan Sanson admission, goalkeeper claim

Arsenal have been one of the more active Premier League clubs in the January transfer window so far.

The Gunners have signed Omar Rekik from Hertha Berlin, as well as letting three players - Matt Macey, Sead Kolasinac and William Saliba - leave the Emirates Stadium.

There's plenty of other speculation surrounding potential incomings and outgoings for Mikel Arteta's side, including the expected exit of Mesut Ozil.

With all this being said, here are the latest Arsenal-related transfer rumours and stories.

Neto transfer request rejected

Barcelona have rejected a transfer request from reported Arsenal target Neto, according to Ronald Koeman (via Goal ).

The Gunners have been linked with a move for the Brazilian shot-stopper in recent days as they seek a back-up option to Bernd Leno.

Barca boss Koeman has now insisted that Neto is too important to let go, despite Marc-Andre ter Stegen being his first-choice goalkeeper.

"It's true that his representative has asked the club for an exit and we have said no because he is an important goalkeeper for us and we want to be very well covered at each position," the former Everton and Southampton manager said.

Sanson admission

Marseille boss Andre Villas-Boas has confirmed there is interest from Premier League clubs in midfielder Morgan Sanson.

Sanson is a reported target for Arteta, with the Spaniard apparently looking for a central midfielder this month.

Now, former Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea manager Villas-Boas has revealed that the Frenchman is attracting interest from the English top-flight.

"We'll see. The transfer window is open, Sanson is a player who is highly rated. Officially, we have not received any offers, unless it happened during the match," the Marseille boss said.

"He is a boy who interests English teams because of his characteristics, and it is possible that something could happen."

Campbell makes goalkeeper claim

Former Arsenal striker Kevin Campbell believes that his old club cannot allow Alex Runarsson to leave this month without signing a replacement.

According to Football Insider, Runarsson has held talks with a European club over a move away from the Emirates Stadium following his shaky start to life in north London.

Campbell, when talking to Football Insider, has told the Gunners that they cannot allow the goalkeeper to leave this month without a replacement being lined up.

The ex-Arsenal forward said: "We would have to sign a replacement before we let him go. I think they are going to loan him out.

"Look, at the end of the day, they mentioned in the summer that they could not sign the goalkeeper that they wanted. They had to get someone in and Runarsson is probably a third-choice."
