Arsenal transfer rumours: Mikel Arteta keen on Eric Garcia, Guendouzi swap deal, Amavi blow

Arsenal appear to be back in the hunt for the European places following a resurgence of late.

The Gunners are now in eighth place and within five points of the top four, albeit Liverpool, who are four points ahead of the Gunners, have a game in hand.

And there is plenty to be excited about for Gunners fans after the club announced the loan signing of Real Madrid star Martin Odegaard today, the Norwegian joining until the end of the season to fill the creative void in Mikel Arteta's midfield.

But what other deals could we see done by Arsenal before the end of the transfer window, which is now just a few days away?

We run you through all the latest Gunners transfer talk below.

How Odegaard fits in, his favourite Arsenal player and what is next in the transfer market

Arsenal linked with Garcia

Arsenal have been linked with a move for Manchester City defender Eric Garcia.

Barcelona were favourites to land the Spaniard, whose contract expires at the end of this season, but a financial crisis at Camp Nou means they are now seemingly unable to pull off the deal.

Mundo Deportivo now report Arsenal have entered the race with Arteta keen on Garcia and the possibility of landing him on a free transfer.

Though, the Gunners are not alone with Mauricio Pochettino and PSG also said to be lurking.

Gunners to miss out on left-back

The Gunners could be set to miss out on reported left-back target Jordan Amavi.

Amavi was identified as a possible target of Arsenal's with Arteta in the market for a left-back to challenge Kieran Tierney.

But according to Canal+, both Arsenal and Crystal Palace will miss out on a move with Premier League rivals Leeds United reportedly closing in on a deal.

Leeds weren't planning to make any signings this month, it's claimed, but with Marseille keen to earn a fee for Amavi, who is out of contract at the end of the season, the Yorkshire club have reportedly agreed to bite the bullet in order to sign him this month.

PSG to offer tempting swap deal

Arsenal could be offered a tempting swap deal this summer.

Midfielder Matteo Guendouzi was loaned out to Hertha Berlin at the start of this season after falling out with Arteta last term.

But things might have been different for the 21-year-old and that's because PSG were also said to be interested in acquiring his services before he made the move to Germany.

And according to L'Equipe, they still are interested, despite swapping Thomas Tuchel for Pochettino, and so much so that they could be willing to offer German star Julian Draxler in a swap deal in order to sign Guendouzi this summer.

That could tempt the Gunners, especially given Arteta will be on the lookout for a creative midfielder again this summer when Odegaard's loan deal comes to an end.
