Arsenal transfer rumours: Mesut Ozil and Sokratis exits linked after Premier League squad snub

Arsenal will kick-off their Europa League campaign tomorrow night against Rapid Vienna as they look to improve on their 1-0 weekend defeat to Manchester City.

That game was their first following the closure of the domestic transfer window - but that has not stopped there being plenty of transfer talk in the days that have followed.

The biggest rumours have focussed on players leaving the club after Mesut Ozil and Sokratis were both left out of Arsenal's Premier League squad for the 2020-21 campaign.

But some incomings have also fleetingly been linked.

Man City 1-0 Arsenal: Mikel Arteta post-match press conference

Here are the big Arsenal transfer rumours on Wednesday, October 21.

Mesut Ozil linked with MLS move

Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil has been linked with a move to the MLS this morning.

The German World Cup winner has fallen out of favour at the Emirates Stadium and was yesterday left out of Mikel Arteta's 25-man Premier League squad for the 2020-21 season.

The 32-year-old is the highest-paid player in club history on £350,000-a-week.

But there are MLS clubs keen on acquiring his services with DC United said to be one interested party.

Sokratis future now in question

The second high-profile name to be left out of Arteta's Premier League squad, Sokratis Papastathopoulos is another who looks set to make an exit in January.

Napoli are still said to have an eye on his services after they failed to land him during the summer.

That would see him link up with his Greece international teammate Kostas Manolas in Naples.

But for now, he will remain in north London.
