Arsenal transfer rumours: Matteo Guendouzi decision, Dortmund's Julian Brandt stance

Arsenal have their sights set on Saturday’s FA Cup third-round tie with Newcastle United after enjoying an uplifting run of results.

The Gunners have won their last three Premier League matches to reduce the pressure on Mikel Arteta and are now looking forward to a brighter 2021.

Wins over Chelsea, Brighton and West Bromwich Albion have changed the mood around the club ahead of three successive home games, two of which are against Newcastle.

But while things have improved on the pitch recently, that doesn’t mean Arsenal have halted their search for new players.

The January transfer window is open and the Arsenal hierarchy are on the lookout for new additions which can bolster Arteta’s playing squad for the second half of the season.

With that in mind, here are the latest transfer rumours surrounding the north London club.

Arsenal make decision on Matteo Guendouzi's future

Arsenal have reportedly decided to recall Matteo Guendouzi from his so-far successful loan spell with Hertha Berlin.

Bild report that despite some impressive performances from the young French star, the Gunners will be calling him back to north London due to his contract status.

The surprise report does not say whether the midfielder will be reintegrated into the squad or is being recalled so the Gunners can move him on permanently to bring in additional funds.

Hertha have reportedly lined up a move for Wolfsburg midfielder Yannick Gerhardt to replace Guendouzi if they are left without the Gunners star.

Dortmund to allow Brandt to leave

Julian Brandt will be allowed to leave Borussia Dortmund if the German side receive a lucrative offer for the former Bayer Leverkusen star.

The 24-year-old left Bayer to move to Dortmund in 2019, but has failed to live up to his billing so far.

Bild state that while Dortmund would allow Brandt to leave, it would not be an issue for the German club if he stayed because they are still hoping that he will "take off" with them.

No purchases are currently planned for the Bundesliga side in January.

Arsenal's conditions for Ozil exit

Mesut Ozil is reportedly in talks to leave Arsenal on loan and move to Fenerbahce, but the Gunners have one big condition that could scupper the move.

The Guardian report that Arsenal do not want to pay any part of the German star's salary if he does leave the club in January.

Ozil's lucrative contract at the Emirates Stadium runs out in the summer, and both parties are said to be hoping to end his stay in North London.

The 32-year-old earns around £350,000 per week at Arsenal, but has not made an appearance for the club since March 7 last year - despite being fit and available for the majority of that period.

Fenerbahce are said to be working on a financial solution to the deal with the Gunners unwilling to pay any percentage of his large wages.

Ozil also has an option to move to the USA with DC United interested in a deal, but the player himself is believed to prefer a move to Turkey.
