Arsenal transfer rumours: Man United consider Gabriel hijack, Gunners in talks over £44.9m deal

The countdown to the new season is well and truly on with just over three weeks to go.

But Arsenal can be forgiven for wanting to pause time as they scour the globe for new signings.

Mikel Arteta is expected to strengthen his ranks this summer and Arsenal have already been linked with a number of players.

Arsenal in talks over Aouar

Arsenal are in negotiations with Olympique Lyon over a potential move Houssem Aouar.

According to ESPN, the Gunners have held talks with the French club's director Juninho over a potential €50m deal.

The report suggests midfielder Matteo Guendouzi could be used to reduce the upfront payment on the deal.

Though, the 22-year-old midfielder is in demand with Juventus and Manchester City also said to be interested.

Man United could hijack Gabriel deal

Manchester United could rival Arsenal for defender Gabriel Magalhaes.

According to the Daily Star, the Reds have 'emerged as serious candidates' to land the centre-back's signature.

Reports suggested the Gunners were closing in on Gabriel, but the situation could be complicated by United's interest.

Though, the Star report Man United have not yet submitted a bid for the Brazillian.

Newcastle chase Maitland-Niles

Newcastle United are plotting a move for Arsenal midfielder Ainsley Maitland-Niles, according to Sky Sports.

Steve Bruce is said to be attracted by the midfielder's versatility. currently 'monitoring the situation.

Newcastle are only said to have a budget of around £30m this summer, and Arsenal reportedly want around £20m for the midfielder.

With that in mind, Newcastle are said to be eyeing a loan move, potentially with the option to buy.
