Arsenal transfer rumours: Major Houssem Aouar update, Chelsea make Jorginho plan

Arsenal face the prospect of taking on Liverpool twice in the space of three days across two competitions next week.

On Monday night, the Gunners head to Anfield in the Carabao Cup before the two sides meet again at the Emirates Stadium in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup on Thursday evening.

Mikel Arteta’s side have already signed Willian and Gabriel this summer, but have been linked with more incomings and outgoings before the transfer window closes.

Lyon’s Houssem Aouar and Atletico Madrid’s Thomas Partey are both high on the target list at present as Arteta looks to bolster his midfield.

With that in mind, here are the latest Arsenal transfer rumours.

Aouar accepts personal terms

Arsenal have agreed personal terms with Aouar over a move to the Emirates.

The Lyon midfielder has been heavily linked with a move to the club and has agreed a contract in principle, report Telefoot Chaine.

As a result, RMC Sport claim that the Gunners are now locked in talks with Lyon in a bid to push the transfer over the line.

It remains unlikely that Arsenal will meet the French club's £54million valuation at the moment.

Chelsea make Jorginho plan

Chelsea are keen to sell Jorginho to Arsenal in a bid to fund a move for Declan Rice.

The Englishman is Frank Lampard's top transfer priority with the club not yet finished on their summer spending spree.

However, to fund a mega move for Rice, Arsenal must buy Jorginho, according to The Mirror.

Arteta wants to sign Aouar but with Lyon demanding £54million, a cut-price deal for Jorginho could suit all parties.

Sokratis impatience

Sokratis is said to be frustrated at waiting to find out whether or not Napoli will be making a bid for him nor not.

The Greek international centre-back has been linked with a move to Naples, although that depends on whether or not Napoli sell Kalidou Koulibaly to Manchester City or not.

Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport are reporting that Sokratis is not willing to wait and will focus his attentions elsewhere if Napoli do not make a move for him.

Arteta is happy to let the 32-year-old leave to free up room on the Gunners' wage bill.
