Arsenal transfer rumours - Lyon reject Houssem Aouar bid, new team in for Hector Bellerin

The week of the new Premier League season is already upon us after a quick turnaround from the last.

Arsenal head into the new campaign with some silverware already under their belt, winning the Community Shield against champions Liverpool.

And they will be looking to add to that as they head into a season which will include a Europa League campaign, along with the usual Premier League and domestic cups.

Though, to add to their trophy cabinet, Mikel Arteta knows he will need to strengthen his squad with many of Arsenal's rivals spending big this summer.

Arsenal's next move after Gabriel

They have already made a star with the likes of Gabriel Magalhaes and Willian through the door, but more arrivals are expected, and below we take you through the latest rumours and gossip.

Lyon reject Arsenal advances

Arsenal have reportedly seen a £31million-plus-player deal rejected by Lyon for Houssem Aouar.

According to RMC Sport, the Gunners have offered a sizeable fee of £31million plus unwanted midfielder Matteo Guendouzi, but the Ligue 1 club were not convinced by the offer.

Aouar, a 22-year-old midfielder, has been strongly linked with Arsenal throughout the summer, and it seems they have now made their move.

But the Gunners will need to up the ante to get their man.

Leverkusen eye Bellerin

Bayer Leverkusen are eyeing a move for Arsenal full-back Hector Bellerin.

That's according to The Telegraph, who say the German club are looking to spend a portion of the sizeable figure they received from Chelsea for Kai Havertz on a new full-back.

Bellerin seems to have been identified as the player they want this summer, though Tottenham's Serge Aurier is also being considered.

Rumours last week suggested the Gunners were unsure whether they wanted to part ways with Bellerin as they look to raise more money for new signings.

This could make the decision for them.

Napoli earmark Sokratis

Napoli are reportedly eyeing Sokratis Papastathopoulos this summer.

The Sun suggest the Serie A giants will turn to Sokratis to replace Manchester City target Kalidou Koulibaly.

Sokratis is one of the players who has been named among those Arsenal are willing to lose this summer as they look to fund incomings.

Napoli could offer the 32-year-old a new home, but it's only likely to be if their superstar Koulibaly does indeed leave.
