Arsenal transfer rumours: Lucas Torreira interest, Houssem Auoar battle, Coutinho in London

Arsenal continue to try and strengthen their squad this summer after winning the FA Cup, with Mikel Arteta preparing for his first full season in North London.

The Gunners are reported to have dispensed with their scouting department in an effort to cut costs following the coronavirus crisis.

It means it will be an interesting transfer window at the Emirates Stadium, with both incoming and outcoming deals on the cards.

With that in mind, here is the latest Arsenal transfer gossip.

Milan eye Lucas Torreira

AC Milan are plotting a move to snatch Lucas Torreira from Arsenal with an exit for the Uruguay international potentially on the cards this summer, the Telegraph states.

Torreira endured a difficult second season with the Gunners, fallen down the pecking order after Mikel Arteta settled on a midfield partnership of Granit Xhaka and Dani Ceballos.

Reports in Italy have said that Fiorentina are also interested in signing the Uruguayan but it is understood that Milan is the more likely destination for the midfielder at this stage.

Arsenal could approve a sale in order to fund their own transfer business this summer, with Matteo Guendouzi also touted for an exit to raise funds.

Houssem Aouar battle

Arsenal are locked in a fierce three-way transfer battle for the services of Lyon star Houssem Aouar, L'Equipe states.

The Gunners face competition in the market from Juventus and Manchester City but have been handed a boost following the latter's signing of Ferran Torres, which means they're unlikely to move for Aouar.

Lyon are hoping to get around £54million for the sale of Aouar, but that could be tricky with the financial implications caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

Arsenal see the Frenchman as an addition that can improve their midfield ranks, an area that is a priority for Mikel Arteta this summer.

Philippe Coutinho in London

Barcelona forward Philippe Coutinho visited Arsenal's HQ at London Colney on Friday as discussions for a potential transfer continued, the Gooner Fanzine states.

The 28-year-old former Liverpool star is on the hunt for a new club this summer with Barcelona seeing him surplus to requirements and Bayern Munich not making a move permanent following his loan stint at the club.

Coutinho is keen on a return to the Premier League and his agent Kia Joorabchian has close ties with the Arsenal hierarchy, who are seen as strong suitors for his signature.
