Arsenal transfer rumours: Late move for Man City ace, £15m for wonderkid, Torreira interest ends

The January transfer window has proven to be a busy period for Arsenal and manager Mikel Arteta.

At the time of writing, the Gunners have drafted in three new faces and allowed five players to leave, including Mesut Ozil, who has joined Fenerbahce, and William Saliba, who has joined French outfit Nice on loan for the remainder of the season.

Although Omar Rekik, Mat Ryan and Martin Odegaard have all significantly boosted Arteta's options, at least one new arrival is expected before the window closes on Monday, with a left-back remaining at the very top of the Spaniard's wish list.

In the last few days, the club has been closely linked with Southampton's Ryan Bertrand and Tyrick Mitchell of Crystal Palace, although no concrete targets have emerged.

As well as continuing to be linked with adding new left-backs to the ranks, other faces continue to heavily feature within the Gunners gossip columns.

With that in mind, here is a round-up of all the very latest Arsenal transfer news and rumours.

Gunners eye City star

Arsenal are ready to hijack Barcelona's move to sign Manchester City centre-back Eric Garcia, Mundo Deportivo reports.

The defender, who is 20, is poised to leave City at the end of the season after turning down the offer of a new contract at the Etihad Stadium.

Currently, Barcelona are in pole position to try and land the Spaniard, but they are set to face competition from clubs in the Premier League, including the Gunners.

To Arsenal's advantage, Arteta has worked with Garcia at City and that could hand them a major boost in their attempts to seal his signature.

Valencia end Torreira interest

La Liga outfit Valencia have given up in their pursuit of Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira.

The Uruguayan international has been on loan at Spanish outfit Atletico Madrid since the last transfer window but has failed to have any sort of impact for Diego Simeone's side.

With just a matter of days left in the window, Torreira looks set to return to Arsenal and head out on loan again.

But it won't be to Valencia, with AS reporting they have given up on a deal. It is now understood that French giants AS Monaco want to sign him, with talks currently ongoing between the two clubs.

Arsenal sent Collins warning

StokeonTrentLive report that Stoke City are not prepared to let defender Nathan Collins leave the club this month for anything other than "silly money."

The defender, who can operate at both right-back and centre-back, has been a key figure in the Potters' push for a top-six tilt in the Championship so far this season.

His impressive performances for Michael O'Neill's side has let to plenty of interest in his services in recent weeks, including from the likes of Arsenal, Burnley and Manchester United.

It is reported that a £10million fee would not be enough to force Stoke into parting with one of their most highly-rated stars.

According to TEAMtalk, the promotion hopefuls will not be willing to accept anything less than £15million, but even that figure would only be a starting point.
