Arsenal transfer rumours: Interest in Ozil, Chelsea's Jorginho could have joined Gunners

The summer transfer window may have closed only this month but we are drawing ever nearer to the January window opening.

Arsenal enjoyed a decent summer with players such as Thomas Partey, Gabriel Magalhaes and Willian all arriving.

But Mikel Arteta will still believe there is room for improvement as far as his squad is concerned, while several fringe players could be on their way out when the market reopens.

Here are the latest Arsenal transfer rumours.

Ozil agent blasts unfair treatment

Mesut Ozil’s agent has spoken out against Arsenal and Arteta’s treatment of his client this year.

The German star is the highest-paid player at the club but was left out of Arsenal’s squads for the Premier League and Europa League.

Ozil has not played for the Gunners since March and has not been in a matchday squad since June.

Dr. Erkut Sogut told ESPN: "Arsenal fans deserve an honest explanation, not [manager Mikel Arteta] saying 'I failed Ozil.'

“You didn't fail Ozil: you failed to be fair, honest and transparent and treat someone with respect who has a contract and was loyal all the time."

MLS club may land Ozil

While the outlook for Mesut Ozil is currently bleak, The Sun report he could move to MLS.

It is claimed that D.C. United are exploring a move for the playmaker, but his wages may prove prohibitive and are the major stumbling block to any deal taking place.

As the 32-year-old is not in the Premier League or Europa League squads for the Gunners, he may be open to a transfer in order to secure regular minutes.

The report also notes how clubs from Portugal, Brazil and Qatar - where the transfer window remains open - may yet move for the playmaker.

Jorginho opens up on Gunners talks

Chelsea midfielder Jorginho has admitted there was the possibility of him moving across London to join Arsenal in the summer transfer window.

The Italy international insists his intention was always to remain at Stamford Bridge, but he could have jumped ship if he’d have wanted to.

Jorginho told ESPN Brazil, as per the Metro: “I believe that every player is open to negotiations.

“So I believe there was something they talked about. And in the end it was decided that I remain here.

“Now my head is here and we’re going to do a great job with Chelsea, which I always wanted to do.”
