Arsenal transfer rumours: Houssem Aouar value drops, Jorginho loan latest

Time is running out for Arsenal to complete their transfer business for this summer.

The main summer transfer window shuts on Monday - although there is an extended deadline for signing non-Premier League players based in England and free agents.

With that in mind, here is the latest Arsenal transfer news.

New Aouar value

L'Equipe report that Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has dropped his asking price for Houssem Aouar.

It hands Arsenal a transfer boost as the two clubs edge closer to an agreement over the midfielder.

Aulas is a tough negotiator but is willing to accept £4m less for Arsenal's top target.

That means £36m will be enough to land Aouar.

Jorginho loan

ESPN's Julien Laurens says a deal for Aouar is dragging on enough for the Gunners to investigate other targets.

That includes Chelsea midfielder Jorginho.

It has been reported that the Gunners will launch a late loan move for the Italian midfielder if they are unable to secure a deal for Aouar.

Leeds told to join Benrahma race

Football Insider report that Kevin Phillips has told Leeds to join the race for Said Benrahma.

Arsenal and Chelsea have both been linked with the Brentford winger, who has started this season in fine form.

Phillips says that Leeds should also look at a move for the Championship star.

"It’s a strange one with Benrahma, it’s almost gone really quiet, you’re not seeing him get linked very much,” Phillips said.

"It wouldn’t surprise me if that sort of deal there would probably happen last day of the transfer window, one of those that happens late on where someone probably pays a bit over the odds for him.

"Maybe Leeds? They might have a little go."
