Arsenal transfer rumours: Houssem Aouar 'next on the radar', Mesut Ozil talks ongoing

With the international transfer window now closed, Arsenal supporters will be pleased with their side’s business this summer.

A late deadline day move for Atletico Madrid star Thomas Partey capped off what can be considered a very impressive window.

Dani Ceballos, Cedric Soares, Willian, Gabriel Magalhaes, Runar Alex Runarsson and Partey all moved to the Emirates Stadium during the summer.

With the next window just under three months away, the Gunners are again being linked with more players, and we’ve gathered some of the latest stories for you.

Aouar “next on the radar”

Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar will be “next on the radar for Mikel Arteta and Edu” at Arsenal, according to former Gunners striker Kevin Campbell.

Four significant omissions from Arsenal's Europa League squad

Aouar was linked for the majority of the summer transfer window, but ultimately, the Gunners and the French club could not agree on a fee for the talented creative midfielder.

Campbell has sent Aouar a message, though, when speaking on The Highbury Stand’s YouTube channel : “Who is next? Houssem Aouar, we missed you. We didn’t get you this time!

“Whether we can get you in January, I’m not sure. But I’m sure you’re next on the radar for Mikel Arteta and Edu.”

Shrewsbury loan Gunners ‘keeper

League One side Shrewsbury Town have signed Arsenal goalkeeper Deyan Iliev on loan until January.

The Macedonian ‘keeper has been at the Gunners since he was 18, now 25, but has never played for the senior team.

Iliev has previously had loan spells out at SKF Sered and Jagiellonia Bialystok in Slovakia and Poland, respectively.

Arteta currently has three goalkeepers to choose from - Bernd Leno, Runar Alex Runarsson and Matt Macey.

Arsenal to re-open Ozil pay-off talks

Arsenal are set to re-open talks with midfielder Mesut Ozil over a pay-off, which could see him leave the club.

That’s according to the Mirror, who are reporting that the Gunners want Ozil to leave in January to save some money on wages.

The German is currently the side’s top-earner, receiving a reported £350,000-a-week, but is yet to make an appearance this season.

Ozil has attracted interest from the MLS, and the report states that his most likely destination is in the United States.
