Arsenal transfer rumours: Houssem Aouar deal off, Jorginho eyed, William Saliba interest

Arsenal have had a decent start to the new season, losing just once since the big kick-off with that game coming against defending champions Liverpool at Anfield.

The Gunners have made moves in the market this summer, landing Willian and Gabriel Magalhaes as well as securing a bumper new deal for captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

With the window now in it's final days, Arsenal are still active on the market with the midfield being a focus - and there could also be significant departures.

Here, we have gathered some of the latest snippets surrounding the Gunners.

Arsenal vs Sheffield United preview

Houssem Aouar deal off

Arsenal's proposed deal for Houssem Aouar is off after Lyon briefed various French outlets that the midfielder will be remaining at the club.

The Gunners have been pursuing a deal for the 22-year-old but were refusing to meet Lyon's demands of €50m plus bonuses for the highly-rated midfielder.

Now, as cited by GFFN, Lyon have made it clear that neither Aouar or Memphis Depay, who has been linked with a move to Barcelona, will be leaving the club.

While the signing of Lucas Paqueta from AC Milan suggested a departure, it's expected that exit will be Jeff Reine-Adelaide's move to Hertha Berlin.

Jorginho eyed

Arsenal have turned their attention towards Chelsea midfielder Jorginho following the collapse of their attempts to sign Houssem Aouar, ESPN states.

Having missed out on top target Aouar, as well as Atletico Madrid's Thomas Partey, it's reported Mikel Arteta is now 'desperate' to land Jorginho.

The Italian midfielder netted twice from the penalty spot in Chelsea's drubbing of Crystal Palace on Saturday but he could be allowed to leave, with Chelsea eyeing midfield recruits of their own.

Arsenal are looking to sign the former Napoli man on a season-long loan and he would be the third player in the space of 12 months to swap Stamford Bridge for the Emirates Stadium, following on from David Luiz and Willian.

William Saliba interest

Newly-promoted Premier League sides Fulham and Leeds United are interested in signing William Saliba on loan from Arsenal, with the Mail stating he has been offered to the Whites.

The £27m man was signed last summer from St. Etienne but remained with the Ligue 1 side on loan for another year, before moving to north London in recent months.

However, his spell last season was plagued by injury problems and he's yet to make a breakthrough under Mikel Arteta, who has hinted at a loan exit.

Le 10 Sport states that Fulham are also keen on his services, with Scott Parker's side desperate for defensive additions.
