Arsenal transfer rumours: Houssem Aouar boost, William Saliba loan deal, Lucas Torreira exit

It has been a decent start to the season for Arsenal, having won the Community Shield, beaten Leicester City and Liverpool in the Carabao Cup and started with two wins from three in the Premier League.

Monday's defeat at Anfield to the defending champions was a blow, although perhaps not unsurprising, and Mikel Arteta will be looking for his side to bounce back when they tackle Sheffield United on Sunday.

Of course, the latest game week takes place during the final days of the transfer window as it closes for business on Monday - but there is still work to be done.

Here, we have gathered some of the latest snippets surrounding the north London side.

Houssem Aouar boost

Arsenal have received a boost in the hunt to sign Lyon's Houssem Aouar after a Paris Saint-Germain chief confirmed he is not a target.

The Gunners are locked in negotiations to sign the 22-year-old and it has been speculated that competition in the market could come from PSG, Real Madrid and Juventus.

However, as quoted by Fabrizio Romano, sporting director Leonardo stated a move will not happen: "Aouar is a dream but it is not the right moment to sign him."

In a separate tweet, Romano confirmed Arsenal are 'pushing' to sign the Frenchman and will not face competition in the market from Real Madrid or Juventus.

William Saliba loan

Arsenal could let William Saliba leave on loan before Monday's transfer deadline with a host of French sides interested in his services, according to the Guardian.

Signed for £27m last summer, Saliba remained with St. Etienne on loan last term but struggled with injury problems, which has led Mikel Arteta to confirm 'different options' are being considered.

That could see the highly-rated Frenchman depart for another season elsewhere in hunt of opportunities, with Saliba yet to feature this season.

The signing of Gabriel Magalhaes from Lille has added further depth to Arsenal's defensive options and Arteta may be patient with Saliba's development.

Lucas Torreira arrives in Madrid

Lucas Torreira has arrived in Madrid ahead of a season-long loan with Atletico Madrid as his exit from Arsenal nears, AS states.

The Uruguay international is set to undergo his medical in the Spanish capital before jetting off to his international duties in South America.

A deal with Atletico is on the verge of completion but it's stated that the Rojiblancos still need to offload a midfielder, with Hector Herrera likely to depart.

Atletico's deal with Arsenal includes a purchase option of around €20m.
