Arsenal transfer rumours: Fresh Mesut Ozil talks, Houssem Aouar speaks out, William Saliba loan

Arsenal were active in the summer transfer window, with Mikel Arteta revamping his squad ahead of his first full season at the Emirates Stadium.

The Gunners signed Willian on a free transfer from Chelsea, landed Gabriel Magalhaes from Lille and captured Alex Runarrson as a replacement for Emiliano Martinez.

On deadline day, the biggest signing was made after Thomas Partey's Atletico Madrid release clause was met, with Arteta landed his long-term target.

With the domestic transfer window remaining open and January not far away, the rumours persist and we have gathered some of the latest snippets below.

Four significant omissions from Arsenal's Europa League squad

Mesut Ozil talks

Arsenal are set to reopen talks with Mesut Ozil about cancelling his contract ahead of the January transfer window, the Mail states.

The 31-year-old has not featured for the Gunners since March, having been sidelined for the duration of the restart in June and the start of the new campaign.

On £350k-a-week, Ozil's deal is a significant financial burden to the north London side and has failed to live up to expectations since penning his lucrative deal.

However, the German World Cup winner is holding out to receive almost all of the £13m he is owed and a previous approach to agree to a cancellation was unsuccessful.

Houssem Aouar speaks on failed transfer

Lyon ace Houssem Aouar has insisted he has no hard feelings after seeing a proposed transfer to Arsenal fall through and is happy to remain with the French side.

The Gunners saw numerous advances for the Frenchman rejected by the Ligue 1 side, who then pulled out of discussions entirely on the eve of deadline day.

As quoted by the Mail, he has no ill-feeling though: "Of course I asked myself all the necessary questions. I am in the headspace to have a great season with my club and get back the points that we have lost.

"Disappointed? I am the opposite. I am at home, in the club that I love, with my friends and my family. So certainly I have all my bearings and it is giving me even more motivation to have a good season and to bring the club back into the top places in France."

Brentford in talks for Saliba

Brentford are in talks with Arsenal regarding a deal to bring William Saliba on loan to the Championship for the 2020/21 season, Goal states.

Signed last summer, he remained with St. Etienne on loan for last season and suffered with numerous injury problems which hindered his development.

Having been left out of the Europa League squad, Saliba looks set for another temporary spell away from the Emirates Stadium and Brentford are leading the hunt.

Advanced talks were held with Saliba’s former club Saint-Etienne on the final day of the international transfer window and an agreement between the two clubs was reached - but was not completed.
