Arsenal transfer rumours: Duo to fund Houssem Aouar move, Lucas Torreira 'agrees' loan switch

Arsenal’s start to the 2020/21 season has given the club’s supporters plenty of optimism and that could be added to in the next few days.

The Gunners are still being heavily linked with a number of players before Monday night’s 11pm deadline.

There’s two players in particular that Mikel Arteta has been targeting all summer, and we expect to hear much more on Houssem Aouar and Thomas Partey in the coming days.

Here are the latest Arsenal transfer rumours.

Sokratis rejects Fulham move

Arsenal defender Sokratis has rejected a move to Premier League side Fulham, according to Football Insider.

The Greek centre-back has been heavily linked with a move away from the Emirates Stadium this summer after falling down the pecking order under Arteta.

The report states that Fulham made an offer to bring the 32-year-old to Craven Cottage, but the experienced defender has rejected the move.

Sokratis has also been linked with a move to Italy, which has until Monday to materialise.

Torreira agrees Atletico loan move

Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira has agreed a season-long loan deal with Atletico Madrid, according to Goal.

Torreira has fallen out of favour at the Emirates, and he is now on the verge of moving to the Wanda Metropolitano for the remainder of the 2020/21 season.

The Uruguay midfielder has been in talks with Diego Simeone’s side for the last few weeks, and it appears a deal has finally been struck.

However, there is one slight obstacle, with Atleti keen to offload one more player before confirming the signing of Torreira.

Gunners look to sell two players to fund Aouar deal

Arsenal are looking to offload Sead Kolasinac and Torreira (see above) in the next few days in order to fund a deal for Lyon star Houssem Aouar.

That’s according to the Evening Standard, who are reporting that Kolasinac and Torreira could both leave the Emirates before Monday.

The latter is expected to join Atleti in the coming days, while the former is in talks with Bayer Leverkusen.

Aouar has been heavily linked with the Gunners in recent weeks, and Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas recently admitted the French side could lose two players before the transfer window shuts.
