Arsenal transfer rumours: Aubameyang to sign new contract, Maitland-Niles exit, Willian deal

Arsenal continue to try and strengthen their squad this summer after winning the FA Cup, with Mikel Arteta preparing for his first full season in North London.

The Gunners are reported to have dispensed with their scouting department in an effort to cut costs following the coronavirus crisis.

It means it will be an interesting transfer window at the Emirates Stadium, with both incoming and outcoming deals on the cards.

With that in mind, here is the latest Arsenal transfer gossip.

Aubameyang to sign new deal

Arsenal are set for a major boost as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is poised to sign a new deal at the Emirates Stadium to tie him down for three years, the Telegraph states.

It's reported that discussions with the Gunners skipper are at an advanced stage, with the hierarchy drawing up a final proposal for the striker to sign.

This follows positive talks with the former Borussia Dortmund man where verbal promises were made, including that investment will be made in the squad.

Aubameyang's new deal will run for three-years, covering the final 12 months of his current agreement and the next two seasons until 2023.

Maitland-Niles decision

Arsenal have made Ainsley Maitland-Niles available for a transfer this summer despite playing his role in the FA Cup triumph, the Mirror reports.

The 22-year-old is highly-rated by Mikel Arteta and his versatility has been a tremendous asset for the Gunners ever since his breakthrough into the first-team.

However, Arsenal are open to a departure this summer if an acceptable offer is lodged - which may highlight the club's unstable financial situation.

He is not the only player available for a transfer this summer, with Matteo Guendouzi being pushed for an exit and the club reportedly listening to offers for Alexandre Lacazette.

Willian to sign

Arsenal are on the verge of signing Willian on a free transfer from Chelsea after agreeing a £100k-a-week three-year deal with the Brazilian, ESPN states.

Willian had rejected a two-year extension from the Blues as the 31-year-old has been pushing for a three-year contract, which has been tabled by the Gunners.

His agent, Kia Joorabchian, has close ties with Arsenal and had publicly stated last week that five clubs had expressed an interest in his services.

Arsenal have won the race for the South American though, who will provide additional experience in the final third for the Gunners.
