Arsenal transfer round-up: Gunners handed Donny van de Beek boost for 'priority position'

As we enter November, the January transfer window is edging ever-closer.

Arsenal were one of the Premier League 's busiest clubs over the summer, splashing out over £150million on six signings.

However, it seems the Gunners are far from finished rebuilding under manager Mikel Arteta and technical director Edu.

Having recovered their form following a rough start to 2021-22, the aim of bringing European football back to the red part of north London is becoming more realistic as their recent recruitment continues to serve them well.

There could be more additions in the winter window, though, as a 'priority position' has been identified.

Here, Mirror Football rounds up the latest transfer news from the Emirates.

Midfielder 'the priority'

Despite the signings of Albert Sambi Lokonga and Martin Odegaard in the summer window, football.london report that a central midfielder remains a priority position for Arsenal to strengthen in.

The Gunners could find themselves light in the middle of the park come January, with Granit Xhaka set to be out injured for the majority of the month.

Meanwhile, Mohamed Elneny and Thomas Partey are set to feature for Egypt and Ghana respectively at the African Cup of Nations which will see them miss a portion of the season.

Plenty of playmakers have been linked with moves to the Emirates, including two names covered here.

Van de Beek boost

Still yet to establish himself as a regular for Manchester United, Donny van de Beek is a name that has been mentioned in relation to Arsenal and their upcoming business.

And now the Gunners have received a boost if they are to enter the race for the Netherlands international's signature, as his team-mates at Old Trafford are reportedly helping him out as he seeks a move away.

The Daily Mail add that Van de Beek was persuaded to change agents by his fellow United players, ditching Guido Albers in favour of Ali Dursun's services after playing just six minutes in the Premier League this term.

His ability to play in a variety of roles would be a plus for Arteta's side, although the former Ajax star would likely demand game-time week-in, week-out.

Target's demands revealed

The wage demands of another of Arsenal's midfield targets, Denis Zakaria - who looks set to leave Borussia Monchengladbach on a free transfer at the end of the season - have reportedly been revealed.

German reporter Christian Falk revealed that the Gunners were interested in Zakaria, with the Swiss powerhouse's preference a move to England over Bayern Munich or a switch to Serie A.

The Sun claim that the 24-year-old is demanding a salary of £80,000-a-week at his next club, a wage that the Gunners could well afford.

Zakaria has been one of the Bundesliga 's standout midfielders since arriving from Young Boys in 2017, going on to feature 136 times for Die Fohlen.
