Arsenal transfer round-up: Aubameyang 'wouldn't touch' Barcelona, Martinez update

Willian has officially arrived from Chelsea as the Gunners prepare for next season with hopes of rejuvenating their squad.

However, the financial uncertainty and staggered season-end dates for clubs have meant there has been an added level of disarray.

Arsenal are believed to have a few irons in the fire and are hopeful of concluding several deals this summer, alongside potentially moving on a few of their current first-team squad.

We look at all the latest transfer news surrounding the club.

Torreira set for Arsenal exit

Midfielder Lucas Torreira has been tipped to depart Arsenal this summer with a return to Serie A said to be on the cards.

His agent Pablo Bentancur has said that while there are no official offers for the Uruguayan, the expectations are that a move will come to fruition in the coming weeks.

"There are many requests, but still nothing official," Bentancur said, as per CalcioMercato.

"I have received many enquiries but we have had no offers. He is training with Arsenal, and he is still their player."

Arsenal central defender Rob Holding is expected to leave the club in the coming days to complete a season-long loan deal with Newcastle.

That is according to a report from The Athletic, which claims the player will move to St James’s Park but there will be no option to buy included.

Villa prepare Martinez offer

Aston Villa are set to launch a £10million bid to land Arsenal goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez, reports The Independent.

Martinez hugely impressed for the Gunners during the season run-in following an injury to Bernd Leno, but he is said to want regular first-team football for next season.

The Argentine is unlikely to get that ahead of Leno, so Villa have moved first to prompt a switch.

Aubameyang 'wouldn't touch Barcelona'

Former Arsenal player Perry Groves has claimed captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang “wouldn’t touch Barcelona with a barge-pole” and backed the player to sign a new Gunners contract.

Groves was speaking to talkSPORT, with quotes carried by the Daily Express.

“I’m pretty confident that he’s going to sign,” said Groves.

“Everything seems to be positive, coming out, and he’s got a good relationship with Mikel Arteta.

"There seems to be a little bit of trust there. Obviously, normally it's his people in negotiations with Arsenal's people, it's nothing to do with Arteta and Aubameyang.”
