Arsenal transfer round-up: £68m target told to "choose Guardiola" as Barcelona eye Aubameyang

Arsenal bounced back with a bang with a resounding 3-0 home victory against Southampton.

Mikel Arteta’s side came into the contest still reeling from Demarai Gray’s last minute winner in their previous 2-1 defeat to Everton in the Premier League.

However, they let out all their frustrations on Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side, who were simply blown away by the relentless Gunners.

Coming into the hectic festive period, Arsenal are in sixth position, but just two points away from the Champions League places.

And with new opportunities to strengthen in the upcoming J anuary transfer window, Mirror Football sum up the recent rumours to surrounding the Emirates Stadium.

Former Italy striker Antonio Cassano has told Fiorentina hitman Dusan Vlahovic to snub Arsenal and join Manchester City instead.

Vlahovic stormed into the top of the Serie A goalscoring charts, after scoring his fourteenth and fifteenth goals of the season in a 4-0 victory against Salernitana.

Arsenal have been courting the Serbian striker, who is believed to be valued at around £68m.

However, Cassano told the striker to snub all interest and join Manchester City, in an interview with Bobo TV (via Calciomercato).

“Vlahovic, choose Guardiola and go to Manchester City. I don’t know if you’ll be up to it, but with a year you could reach Haaland’s level,” said the former striker.

“If, on the other hand, you find a coach who does not know how to communicate with you, growth stops.”

Kulusevski’s crunch talks

Juventus are set to hold crunch talks with Dejan Kulusevski’s agent next week, amid strong interest from Arsenal, according to reports.

The Swedish winger is believed to be up for sale in the January transfer window, and the Gunners appear to be courting his situation.

While the winger played a key role under former manager Andrea Pirlo, the ex-Atalanta ace appears to be surplus to requirements under Massimiliano Allegri.

Despite signing him for around £38m in the summer of 2020, it is believed a bid of around £22m could be enough for the Bianconeri to part with him.

And reports from La Gazzetta dello Sport (via Football Italia), have claimed Juventus will meet Kulusevski’s new agent Alessandro Lucci to discuss his future.

Aubameyang keen on "Xavi's project"

Reports from Spain have claimed Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang would be willing to leave the Gunners and join Barcelona in January.

Mikel Arteta dropped the Arsenal captain from their victory against the Saints, because of a “disciplinary breach.”

The Athletic believe he was left out of the side after returning from an authorised trip abroad later than agreed.

And his days in North London could be numbered, as reports from El Nacional have claimed Xavi is interested in bringing him to the Nou Camp.

Amidst a huge shortage of goals, the Catalans are looking to strengthen their forward area in January, and it appears Aubameyang is one of their main targets.

They also claimed he would be willing to join ‘Xavi’s new project’ if an offer was made.
