Arsenal transfer news: Roma set to take action to prevent star leaving

Arsenal target Nicolo Zaniolo is set for urgent contract talks with Roma as the club bids to ward off interest from the Gunners and Juventus .

The 19-year-old midfielder has forced his way into the first team at the Serie A side with a string of impressive displays.

And Arsenal reportedly asked Roma for a "detailed report" on the £36m teenager after scouts were impressed by him earlier in the season.

But Roma are keen to keep him, and will meet with agents of the player on Thursday, according to reports from Italy.

Italian outlets Gazzetta dello Sport and Calciomercato say Roma want to extend Zaniolo's deal until the summer of 2024, claiming the player wants a wage of 2.4 million euros per season.

Chelsea have also been linked with the midfielder.

Meanwhile, Ajax sporting director Marc Overmars says the Dutch club have no interest in letting Nicolas Tagliafico join Arsenal - or anyone else.

Gunners legend Overmars is confident that Tagliafico, 26, is not going anywhere despite interest from north London.

"We want to keep Nico Tagliafico and David Neres here," defiant Overmars told NOC .
