Arsenal transfer news: Jurrien Timber move 'confirmed' as Man Utd plot £30m Thomas Partey swoop

Your morning Arsenal transfer roundup on Monday, July 10.

Jurrien Timber £40m transfer to Arsenal 'confirmed'

Jurrien Timber's brother, Shamier, has all but confirmed the Dutchman's £40million transfer to Arsenal from Ajax with a post on social media. The 22-year-old defender has completed a medical with the Gunners this weekend and is set to be announced as an Arsenal player next week.

Declan Rice is also on the verge of completing a £105million transfer to the Emirates Stadium next week after completing a two-part medical over the weekend. Timber and Rice will become the second and third signings of the summer transfer window after Kai Havertz became the first arrival in a £65million move from Chelsea.

Mikel Arteta is wasting little time in bolstering his squad ahead of the 2023/24 campaign as the Gunners prepare for a return to the Champions League. The Arsenal boss wanted to add reinforcements to the spine of his squad as he looks to go one step further next year and win the Premier League title ahead of Manchester City.

In a post on Instagram, Timber's brother revealed a picture of the Dutch defender's Ajax leaving party ahead of his move to Arsenal. The picture shown the 22-year-old wearing an Arsenal shirt with the message: "Jurrien's goodbye party! See you in the streets of London."

Erik ten Hag plots Arsenal transfer swoop as Declan Rice closes in on £105m move

Arsenal could risk Manchester United completing a bargain £30million deal to sign Thomas Partey this summer. The Gunners are closing in on the £105million signing of West Ham captain Declan Rice with the England international undergoing a medical this weekend.

The Hammers accepted Arsenal's £100million plus £5million add-ons proposal to sign Rice with the midfielder excited to work with Mikel Arteta at the Emirates Stadium. Kai Havertz has already completed a £65million move to Arsenal from Chelsea and the German could be deployed as a No.8 next season.

Granit Xhaka has already left the Gunners after completing a £21.5million move to Bayer Leverkusen after a successful seven-year spell in north London. Rice's arrival could spell the end of Partey's time at the Emirates Stadium with Juventus and multiple Saudia Arabian clubs interested in the 30-year-old.

The Sun have reported that Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is showing an interest in the Ghana international with Arsenal prepared to let him leave this summer - for the right price. Partey has two years left on his current contract with the Gunners and, if they are unable to come to agree terms on a new deal, this summer may be the perfect time to get a good return of their £42.5million investment.

Arsenal face Aston Villa threat for £50m transfer as Mikel Arteta makes Bukayo Saka demand

Aston Villa have joined Arsenal and many other clubs in the race to sign Bayer Leverkusen star Moussa Diaby this summer. The French forward is expected to leave the Bundesliga outfit this summer with a host of Premier League clubs keen on signing the 24-year-old.

Diaby scored 14 goals and provided a further 11 assists in 48 appearances for Xabi Alonso's side last term. The French winger has a similar profile to Arsenal star Bukayo Saka given that he is a left-footed right-winger with bundles of pace - making him a fairly sensible option for the Gunners stylistically.

A report from The Daily Mail has stated that Villa have now entered the race for Diaby's signature with Leverkusen demanding in excess of £50million. Newcastle and Manchester United have also registered a strong interest in the French forward - but Arsenal may be smart to get a deal done for Diaby ahead of their rivals.

Mikel Arteta wants to add a new versatile forward to his squad ahead of a busy 2023/24 campaign for the Gunners and Diaby could be the perfect competitor for Saka. The England international has been heavily relied upon in the last two seasons - playing more minutes than any other outfield Arsenal player last term (3194).
