Arsenal transfer news: Gunners set for shock swoop for Tottenham star

Arsenal are reportedly considering a shock swoop for Tottenham star Toby Alderweireld.

According to The Sun , the Gunners are one of a host of clubs considering a move for the Belgian centre-half as he's linked with a cut-price £25million summer exit.

A clause in his contract is set to allow the long-time Manchester United target for way below market value and Unai Emery is keen to act to strengthen his side on a budget.

There have so far been no official approaches for Alderweireld, but Spurs are keen to act to tie him down and wipe out the clause, which would hand interested parties a major advantage if they act before July 26.

Meanwhile, the Express have reported Granit Xhaka has emerged as a transfer target for Inter Milan.

The Italian giants are preparing a summer spending spree as they bid to close the gap on dominant Juventus .

They have their eye on Swiss star Xhaka, who arrived at the Emirates for £30m from Borussia Monchengladbach three years ago.

Unai Emery could be tempted to cash in on Xhaka in order to boost his tight transfer budget and give him a chance to invest elsewhere.

Xhaka is reported to be third choice on Inter's wish list behind Barcelona's Ivan Rakitic and Real Madrid ace Toni Kroos, both of whom are attracting significant interest from top European clubs with summer moves looking likely.

The midfielder recently dropped a hint he could be keen for a new challenge prompting concerns he may decide to move on if Inter Milan come calling.

“I’m very ambitious,” Xhaka said. “I want to take the next step.

Arsenal does not have to be the last stop.”
