Arsenal transfer news: Gunners sent hands-off message by former star

Arsenal legend Marc Overmars has sent his former club a hands-off warning as they eye-up Nicolas Tagliafico.

The Ajax sporting director says Ajax will do what it takes to keep the defender.

Overmars is confident that Tagliafico, 26, is not going anywhere despite interest from north London.

"We want to keep Nico Tagliafico and David Neres here," defiant Overmars told NOC .

"If you start reading the news on sports sites every time, you will continue to give your question and answer.

"In the end, we provide the answer ourselves, because of course we are working with Nico to keep him here for another year. Let’s see that in the coming weeks."

He added: "Losing three or four players is quite a lot. But you also have to accept it. We do everything we can to keep players, but you know you have to rebuild. A good example is two years ago after the European success under Peter Bosz."

Reports, meanwhile, suggest the Gunners could look closer to home to secure a new winger.

Scotland international Ryan Fraser, the Bournemouth player, is said to be on the club's radar.

Arsenal may have to be creative in the transfer market this summer with manager Unai Emery said to have less than £50 million to spend.

That could increase if they reach the Champions League after two years away.

To do that the manager knows his team simply have to improve their away form.

“When we were last in the table I was positive, but it was difficult,” Emery said as he assessed their top four chances.

“Now I am the same positive but it is a lot easier because of our position, the position is going to demand us a lot of points to do at the end of the season and only I am going to think about the next match.

“Our challenge is away, because we are going to play away five matches in the last seven matches and our challenge is to be as consistent away as we are at home.”

Arsenal's next match is away at Everton . They also must go to Wolves , Burnley , Leicester City and Watford .
