Arsenal transfer news: Gunners join race for Leeds winger Raphinha amid Barcelona interest

Arsenal are one of several clubs interested in Leeds winger Raphinha.

The Gunners are yet to make a formal offer for the Brazil international, but he is understood to be a player they admire and is on their radar ahead of the summer transfer window.

Raphinha has also caught the eye of Barcelona, while he was linked with Bayern Munich during the January transfer window.

The 25-year-old joined Leeds in 2020 when they gained promotion to the Premier League and he has been a star for them.

The winger scored 11 times for the Whites in the Premier League last season, including a decisive penalty during their final day victory at Brentford.

Leeds narrowly avoided being relegated from the Premier League last season and clubs are now circling over Raphinha.

Arsenal are fans of his and the club want to bolster their forward line this summer as they continue to back Mikel Arteta.

Raphinha predominately plays on the right side, but he can also operate as a No10 or out on the left. He suits Arteta’s philosophy of having quick, technical players that can operate in a number of positions. Crucially, Raphinha is also capable of pressing well when out of possession.

Arsenal’s priority in this summer window is a centre forward and Gabriel Jesus of Manchester City is their top target.

The club are also determined to bring in a central midfielder too and have set their sights on Leicester City’s Youri Tielemans, who is ready to find a new challenge.
