Gabriel Magalhaes has played down transfer links with Italian giants Juventus.

Despite his standing as one of Arsenal’s key players, the Brazilian was strongly touted as a target for the Serie A side earlier this summer, with William Saliba’s arrival intensifying the competition for places in Mikel Arteta’s first-team.

It was Ben White, however, who was moved to right-back for the Premier League opener win against Crystal Palace in order to accommodate Saliba.

A lack of squad depth was seen as a major reason at to why Arsenal’s top four push failed last season, with Arteta since having made a number of eye-catching additions this summer.

Gabriel has played a key role in north London since joining the club from Lille in 2020, starting 57 Premier League games across his full two seasons.

The 24-year-old has stressed he is happy with the “project” in place at Arsenal and shot down any suggestion he could be leaving.

“It’s always nice to get that recognition but I’m really focused on Arsenal,” he told Sky Sports.

"I am very happy here. I’ve got a good relationship with my team-mates and I am fully committed to the project.

"I am convinced that, with the project we have, we can achieve a lot."
