Arsenal transfer news and rumours: Competition for Pino; Tielemans decision made; Neto hopes boosted

Arsenal’s new signings have quickly made themselves at home in north London as the Gunners have made a strong start to the season, but the club’s transfer business might not be done yet.

A central midfielder and a winger are the positions Mikel Arteta is likely to target should Arsenal make further additions before the end of the window, with Yeremy Pino and Youri Tielemans among the names put forward.

The Gunners are making progress when it comes to trimming the squad, with Bernd Leno, Lucas Torreira and Alex Runarsson gone, and the club want Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Hector Bellerin to follow them.

That could leave space for Arsenal to make at least one more signing this summer.

Here is your latest update of Arsenal transfer news and rumours...

Yeremy Pino

It’s safe to say there was plenty of excitement amongst the Arsenal fans when Edu was spotted getting on a plane to Spain.

Was he flying out for discussions with Villarreal winger Yeremy Pino? There’s certainly interest from the Gunners, but Fabrizio Romano reports the 19-year-old will cost £42m.

It’s also claimed that at least two other Premier League clubs are interested in Pino, meaning negotiations will be tough.

Speaking recently on the interest in Pino, current Villarreal and former Arsenal boss Unai Emery refused to rule out selling the player.

He said: If an offer arrives for players like Yeremy Pino, then he will have to leave. We have a responsibility with the club. It is what it is.”

Youri Tielemans

As has been the case for much of the summer, Arsenal continue to be linked with a move for Leicester midfielder Youri Tielemans.

However, it’s believed that the Foxes would rather lose the Belgian for free next summer at the end of his contract than sell him now, and that position is hardening the closer we get to the end of the window.

Football.london claim that Arsenal have therefore decided that a move for Tielemans when he is a free agent is more realistic, and are willing to wait another 12 months.

The Gunners would need to make more sales in the coming weeks before they changed their mind.

Pedro Neto

Reports have suggested that Arsenal could make a move for a ‘mystery winger’ late in the transfer window.

It’s recently been claimed that Pedro Neto could be that man, with the Wolves forward able to play in a number of positions across the front line.

The signing of Goncalo Guedes, who made his debut this weekend, could be a sign that Wolves are preparing for life without Neto, while the club are also now closing in on a big-money move for midfielder Matheus Nunes.

Significant spending from Wolves - have they done so expecting to make key sales in the next couple of weeks?
