Here are your Arsenal transfer headlines for Monday, 5 October.
Lyon transfer decision gives Arsenal hope in Aouar chase
Arsenal have been given some hope in their pursuit of Houssem Aouar after it emerged that Lyon could sell Memphis Depay on deadline day.
Gianluca Di Marzio claims the Dutch forward will join Barcelona, despite Lyon’s insistence only a few days ago that he would not be sold.
The Ligue 1 club said the same about Aouar, seemingly ending Arsenal’s hopes of signing their top midfield target.
But the latest Depay update suggests Lyon could be swayed by the right offer before the close of the transfer window tonight.
Arsenal have already had a £32million bid for Aouar rejected, with Lyon demanding a reported fee of £55m. It remains to be seen if that asking price will be lowered enough for the Gunners to make another offer.
The players that could still join Arsenal on deadline day
Arsenal could be busy on deadline day, with four potential targets on the club’s shortlist.
Houssem Aouar, Thomas Partey, Amadou Diawara and Jorginho continue to be linked with the Gunners with just hours of the transfer window remaining.
With funds tight, selling players on the fringes might be necessary if Arsenal intend to add to their squad.
Here we took a closer look at the players that could make a late switch to the Emirates at some point today.
How new midfield signing could impact Arsenal players
If Arsenal sign a new midfielder on deadline day, several players currently in the squad could be impacted.
The Gunners are still believed to be interested in Jorginho and Thomas Partey.
But bringing either of those players in could change the situation for some of the midfielders at Mikel Arteta’s disposal.
The upcoming season might look different for the likes of Mohamed Elneny - who has started the season well - and Dani Ceballos should Arsenal invest in a midfielder.
