Arsenal transfer exit rumours slammed amid Mikel Arteta’s major January decision

The father of Arsenal midfielder Mohamed Elneny has once again gone public to confirm that he intends to stay with the club until the end of his contract.

The Egyptian has been linked with an exit from the club in recent weeks, with some reports claiming that the Gunners could be set to terminate his contract early in order for him to find new employers.

His current deal runs out at the end of the campaign and as it stands, he is not expected to pen fresh terms in north London.

However, any suggestion that he could leave the club before that date has been refuted by the midfielder’s father.

Talking to Al Hayat TV, he said: "Mohamed's contract with Arsenal expires at the end of the season.

"The club does not intend to terminate his contract. His playing in the Liverpool match proves his coach's belief in him and his abilities.

"It is difficult for him to return to Egypt during this period. The reports that El Ahly made a deal with him are completely false."

It is not the first time that Elneny senior has gone public with confirmation of the midfielder’s decision to remain in north London.

Talking to Shams TV earlier this month, he said: "Arteta wants Mohamed to stay. He might need him in the coming period so he will remain until the end of the season. I hope that he will end his career at Al Ahly."

Elneny has so far been used sparingly by Arteta during the current season.

He has made just five appearances in all competitions so far throughout the campaign, and has played just 54 minutes of Premier League action.

The 29-year-old however has appeared in each of the last two Premier League games by coming on as a late substitute against both Watford and Liverpool.
