Arsenal training pictures show noticeable change in players after West Ham win

The happy times appear to have returned to London Colney judging by photos of the Arsenal squad in training ahead of their Europa League game against Standard Liege on Thursday.

It has not been a happy camp recently, with the Gunners not winning in eight Premier League games between October 6 and December 9- their worst run since 1977.

However, a 3-1 win over West Ham on Monday appears to have lifted the doom and gloom, and the players looked noticeably more cheerful than in recent times as they were put through their paces by Freddie Ljungberg.

There were beaming smiles and happy faces throughout the whole session, with the likes of David Luiz, Mesut Ozil and Sead Kolasinac seen sharing a joke.

Gabriel Martinelli, who scored Arsenal's equaliser as the Gunners came from behind against West Ham, also grinned for the cameras, while Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang seemed to be untroubled by recent speculation that he wants to leave the club .

Interim manager Freddie Ljungberg, however, was a picture of concentration as he was seen away from his group of players, presumably focusing on the task ahead as he tries to convince the Arsenal board that he is the right man to take over permanently.

The win over West Ham was Ljungberg's first since he replaced Unai Emery in the hotseat, and he will be desperate to build on that against Standard Liege and then in the Gunners' huge game against Manchester City on Sunday.

Arsenal only need to avoid defeat to guarantee qualification for the knockout stages of the Europa League against Liege, and they will be hoping to get a win to ensure they win the group, with Eintracht Frankfurt only a point behind them.

They were dealt a blow, however, with the news that summer signing after suffering a dislocated shoulder against West Ham.
